The LearningWell Coalition is proud to announce the appointment of three new members to its Steering Committee:

Nick Anderson, Vice President for Higher Education Partnerships and Improvement at the American Council on Education, offers deep expertise in institutional engagement and public communication. Before joining ACE, he covered education for The Washington Post, earning national recognition for his reporting on college access, campus culture, and policy. At ACE, he now leads initiatives that help colleges and universities respond to key challenges and opportunities in the current higher education landscape.

Domenico Grasso, Interim President of the University of Michigan, brings extensive experience leading both public research universities and liberal arts colleges. From 2018 to 2025, he served as the sixth chancellor of the University of Michigan-Dearborn, where he also held faculty appointments in public policy and sustainable engineering. A Ph.D. graduate of the University of Michigan, President Grasso has held senior leadership roles at the University of Delaware, the University of Vermont, and Smith College, where he founded the first engineering program at a women’s college in the United States. His tenure at UM-Dearborn was marked by expanded access, improved student outcomes, and the university’s elevation to R2 research status.

Andy Shennan, Provost Emeritus and Professor of History at Wellesley College, brings two decades of academic leadership and governance experience. As Wellesley’s inaugural provost, he played a central role in shaping the college’s strategic direction. He currently serves as a commissioner for the New England Commission of Higher Education and previously chaired the Alliance to Advance Liberal Arts Colleges.

Each of these individuals brings a valuable perspective to the Coalition’s mission of helping colleges and universities create the conditions for students to thrive and achieve wellbeing—both during college and throughout their lives.
