Faculty Practices for Student Flourishing
Real-world strategies for creating transformative learning experiences
This guide offers a growing collection of teaching strategies that promote student wellbeing, engagement, and success, both inside and beyond the classroom.
Developed by a national Faculty Learning Community convened by the LearningWell Coalition and the University of Florida’s Center for Teaching Excellence, these actionable, research-informed practices were gathered from faculty across a diverse range of institutions. Together, they explored what it means to teach for wellbeing in today’s higher education landscape, and how small, intentional actions can have a lasting impact on students’ lives. Each section is organized around one of the Gallup Big Six Experiences: a set of experiences linked to long-term wellbeing and career engagement that includes supportive relationships with faculty and mentors, as well as meaningful, applied learning opportunities. The guide is designed for faculty looking to make small but meaningful changes to their teaching.
