Cultivating Character and Purpose for the Common Good
For more than 20 years, the University of Dubuque’s Wendt Center for Character Education has advanced the university’s mission to develop character and purpose in students, faculty, and staff. Grounded in the Christian tradition, the Center prepares the campus community to live with integrity and contribute to the common good.
Integrating the Head, Heart, and Hands
The Wendt Center’s framework integrates intellectual growth, emotional depth, and purposeful action. Through four pursuits—Seeking Knowledge and Insight, Supporting Wellbeing, Strengthening Community, and Serving Others—students, faculty, and staff engage in experiences that connect reflection with real-world impact, preparing them to lead lives of purpose.
Building a Culture of Character
The Wendt Center is helping make character central to life at the University of Dubuque. Programs such as Wendt Character Scholars, Pathways to Purpose, General Education Integration, Faculty and Staff Development, and Community Partnerships reach thousands each year, fostering integrity, purpose, and leadership across campus and beyond.
